Hanging on for Dear Life

November 10, 2009
The roller coaster ride has begun. It seems that once November arrives, things just don’t slow down again until after Christmas. That’s okay. We’re holding on to our hats and are off and running. For me, that means desperately trying to keep up, stay ahead and have fun in the process. (which translates into choosing fun over work more often than not, which then results in getting behind again.)

Anyway, I thought I would let you know about a couple of books we’re enjoying about Thanksgiving so far. We’ve been spending time doing fun reading in the mornings and it seems to be getting us off on the right foot. It puts us in the mood to get down to business, keeping in mind (especially for mom!) that education should be enjoyable, not just another chore or thing to mark off the list. So here is one that the kids have enjoyed, especially the illustrations.

We’re also going through our ABC’s as we count down til Thanksgiving. Each day we come up with things that we’re thankful for that begin with a certain letter. I think today is J. Anyway, this book kind of goes along with that idea. I’m sure we’ll come home with more tomorrow, but that’s it for now.

It’s also been fun to go back and look at what was inspiring to me last year at this time. Amazing how time flies, isn’t it?

Hope your hearts are filling with anticipation and you’re enjoying the ride as well.

I am more and more appreciative of your resources for keeping God in the center of the home for the holidays. Also any crafts/decorating/entertaining tips you have would be so great! This is the first year I'm not heading to Ohio for Christmas, we've decided to stay here in Chicago, and I can't rely on my sister to be the one who decorates and cooks, etc. It's pretty much going to be whatever I make it to be this year! Keep the ideas coming!
